Research focus

Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) give rise to all types of blood cells. Tight regulation of the rate of stem cell division and differentiation is important for the maintenance of the healthy blood and immune cell system during the life. Functional changes and accumulation of somatic mutations in hematopoietic stem cells and progenitor cells are a common cause for hematopoietic malignancies. Our group studies:

  • Aging and possible mechanisms of HSC rejuvenation.
  • Epigenetic regulation of HSC differentiation.
  • Mechanisms of somatic mutation accumulation and HSCs malignant transformation.
  • Bone marrow niche in health and malignant transformation.

Specific expertise

  • Hematopoietic stem cells
  • Inflammation stress models
  • Stem cell fate decision and epigenetic
  • Bone marrow niche
